How to prepare for the freeze-drying process

Out of Town

When bringing in flowers from out of town, place ice in the bottom of a cooler and cover with two layers of newspaper. Put your flowers into a plastic bag and place on top of the newspaper for transport.

Large designs should be well-watered and kept in an air-conditioned vehicle for transport. Flowers from destination weddings or very long distance occasions can be shipped overnight guaranteed (on ice) direct to Memories Bi-Design.

It is best if we get your flowers no more than 2-3 days after your event. Follow these simple steps to ensure the best results possible:

Handle your flowers with care. Each time you bump or handle a flower it may leave a dark spot.

Re-cut long stems and place in water or rehydrate arranged flowers by spraying them with distilled water.

Place your flowers in plastic bag and put them in the refrigerator. Do not place your flowers next to fruits or vegetables as this will cause them to wilt.

If your arrangement is too large to place in the refrigerator, keep them in a cool place such as a basement or outside in the shade as weather permits (if between 40-60 degrees).

If you are bringing flowers from out of town, place ice in the bottom of a cooler, cover with two layers of newspaper and then place your bagged flowers on top of the newspaper [see sidebar].

Large funeral sprays or other large designs should be watered and placed in a cool place.
